The musical genre Quiet Storm is essentially the Yacht Rock of soul and R&B. Yacht Rock has smooth music, while Quiet Storm has slow jams. Smokey Robinson and his album Quiet Storm are the grandfather of this format. I appreciate those 70s slow jams though I have a preference for the 80s hits like Lionel Richie’s Hello, or Sade’s Smooth Operator.
