That smooth, almost country-western music that my parents listened to in the car and made me groan in agony — now I like it. I can’t explain it, and I can no longer fight it, and Lionel Richie is a prime example of this genre. His undeniable talent, charisma, and confidence combined with his calm demeanor belie the passion of his lyrics. What I’m saying is just give in and make peace with liking this music, because it’s damn good.
