Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, and it seems everybody in the world has an opinion on whether he deserved it. You can argue whether a songwriter deserves the prize, but you can’t deny the literary quality of Dylan’s songs. In putting together the playlist I realized that his best periods focus on telling stories, not preaching or protesting. The dark period of the early 1980s lacks great storytelling in his lyrics. What follows is my proof that Bob Dylan creates literature; I’ll leave the debate about whether he’s Nobel worthy to the English majors.
